I know this is not a photography related subject, but it is probably one of the most important things you can do for your new teenage driver.
My son and I attended B.R.A.K.E.S. driving school this past weekend and had a great time. If you have a new driver in your family, I highly recommend this 4 hr course. It is 3 hrs of behind the wheel training. We attended the course at the ZMax Drag Strip in Concord, NC. All drivers got to experience what to do when a car goes into a spin on wet pavement. Or what to do when a wheel drops off the shoulder of the road at high speed. There were several obstacle courses and a quick stop ABS testing area. The parents even got to drive some of the courses. The instructors are all seasoned race drivers. It was a lot of fun! I am so glad that my son got to have this experience in controlled environment so that when it happens on the road he will know what to do and expect.
ALL drivers should be required to attend a course like this.
To attend, all that is required is a $75 tax deductible donation! Sign up your new driver for one of the next sessions. You will not be disappointed.

ReplyDeleteThis defensive driving is an important and often integral part of learning how to drive. No matter what other drivers on the road are doing, your child will be able to respond and avoid a collision.
